Where oh where have I been?

I think Ferris Bueller said it best: “Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

Things in the Schneider house have been going full steam ahead. Our little one is expected in the next few weeks so Melanie and I have been working on the house… last minute preparations… and working on choosing a pediatrician and childcare/pre-school. It’s much more daunting than we thought, but the best we can do is make an informed decision and see how it goes. We can always change if something doesn’t feel right.

Due to the imminent arrival of our son I’ve also been trying to fulfill any open orders and close up my open albums so if you are a client and want something printed in the next 3 months you should really try to get your order in now.

Speaking of photos Melanie and I had a session with the awesome Wiebners (Joel and Rita) while in Lancaster in June. Here’s a sample from the session and if you click on it you’ll link to their blog where you can see more of us.

Also, if you are interested in seeing a couple of the maternity photos that Michele at Pinkle Toes Photography took of Melanie check out this post on her blog (hint: she’s the beautiful one in the bright green dress). Michele is awesome and will be doing our newborn session once the Peanut arrives. You can bet we will be sharing all of the wonderful photos from that session along with the many, many, many (did I say many?) photos that I will be taking once he’s here.

Oh how the years have flown by. My Mom told me I was born during a blizzard… fittingly Lancaster is getting snow today and we just had ice in Austin. I snagged these photos from our wedding DVD (we had the videographer put a slideshow at the beginning of the disk of photos we gave him).

Hello, dear blog reader. Sorry for being AWOL lately. My parents had been visiting for a few days last weekend and it took me a few days to get ramped back up and moving again (I love having visitors, but it throws me off of my normal schedule and takes me a bit to get going again). Anyway I’ve been working my butt off finishing photos and albums, getting ready for Melanie’s birthday (it’s next week… I will definitely blog about it), and drooling over the new Canon 5D Mark II (I’m not sure about putting video capabilities in a DSLR, but I’m sure we’ll find fun ways to use it).

Anyway, just wanted to make a quick post letting everyone know that I’m still here. I’m shooting a wedding with Laura tomorrow at the Red Corral Ranch which should be an awesome event. Look for a blog post in a few days with those photos. For now enjoy this silly photo of yours truly.

Day trip to Fredericksburg

Even the best of plans can be spoiled by Mother Nature and that’s what happened this weekend with Hurricane Ike. So, being the good planners we are, Melanie and I decided to take my parents to Fredericksburg instead of Houston yesterday (having a plan B is always a good idea). The weather was sunny, the company was good, and we had an enjoyable little day trip. Our first stop was Wildseed Farms and then we headed into downtown Fredericksburg for some lunch (burgers at the Buffalo Nickel) and a bit of shopping.

Here are a few collages that I put together using a new set of actions I got from MCP Actions. Let me know what you think (I’m trying them out because I want to get more photos on my blog while minimizing scrolling as much as possible).

I have a huge list of photographer’s blogs that I watch and this list popped up on the Perez Photography blog today and I thought it would make for a great post tonight.

Another weekend comes to a close and I find myself wishing I had more hours before the work week begins. We had a busy weekend… Friday evening we drove up to Dallas to visit with Holly and Matt, Saturday afternoon we drove back and had Katie over to celebrate her birthday (I grilled up some food and we hung out and played the Wii), today we slept in and did some shopping, and I worked on photo processing tonight. Even doing all of that I feel like I need one more day to really feel like I’ve accomplished something. Anyway, good luck to y’all as you dive into the new work week.

On a side note I’ve been a bad son lately and haven’t been calling my Mom as often as I should. You can bet there will be a call made tomorrow night

New look for the blog

Yeah, I know… you’re probably asking “Didn’t you just update the look of the blog like 2 months ago?”. The answer is yes, but over the past 2 months I’ve run into problems and things that I didn’t like about the old template. The worst issue was the pages just didn’t layout properly in IE 6 (40% of my visitors who use IE are still using version 6)… secondary to that I wanted to be able to share larger photos and I wanted an easy to update flash header to share more photos with y’all. Soooo… what you are seeing is the result. I’m really digging it. The look is clean and very easy for me to maintain.

What’s a post without any photos? Here are a few snapshots I took while Melanie’s parents were in town. We took them out to see the Lakeway Resort last Tuesday evening at sunset.

Miscellaneous Monday #16

I don’t have many witty or random things to post about today so I’m going to post a few funny photos of me from this Saturday’s wedding and plug a cool local company who will bring a digital photo booth to your reception for everyone to have a great time. Party Booth Pix is the name of the company and though their website is on the photos themselves it doesn’t appear to be working so I dug up some information from the Austin Wedding Guide about them:

Just thought I’d post a quick note before Melanie and I head out to dinner. Today’s my birthday and I’m 31. In honor of that fact I’ll be back later to edit this post and add list of 31 things that I love about my life and am happy about (because birthday’s are happy right?).

So I’m back and here’s my list of 31 big (and small) things that I love about my life and am thankful for (in no particular order):
