My Passion & My Work

Hey there and welcome to the Blueye Photography blog. My name is Troy and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer located in Austin Texas. I love making photos that are real... real moments, real smiles, real love. I'm not sure that I can put my photography style into a single category, but you can be sure that I'm looking for the best light and the most creative angles I can.

In my blog you'll find everything from sneak peeks of client sessions to personal information. My life is (almost) an open book and I like to share as much as I can. Most entries will include photos... this is a photographers blog after all. I also love feedback about my photography/posts/website/life so please comment as much as you like. I read them all and try to respond to each and every one.

After you've read through some posts and gotten to know a bit about me feel free to check out my portfolio site using the portfolio link above. The blog is updated more frequently than my site, but you won't want to miss checking out my portfolio either.

Thanks for stopping by.

Melanie + Les: the engagements

So here it is 2:20am and I’m blogging… with good reason. Laura and I had the pleasure of shooting Melanie and Les’ engagement session today yesterday in Weimar, Texas and I wanted to get these posted. After traveling nearly 6 hours today (1 hour to Laura’s, 2 hours to Weimar, 2 hours back to Laura’s, and 1 hour back home) I got home around midnight and needed to wind down. What better way to do that than go through this fantastic couples’ photos and pretty up a few for the blog. They are a very outdoorsy couple (think hunting and fishing rather than running or hiking) and I think we did a great job capturing their personalities, relationship, and lifestyle. Enjoy the photos.

Meet Pepsi… he was full of energy from the moment we arrived until almost the end of the session (see below for why I say almost)

Melanie and Les have great chemistry and were laughing and having fun during the entire session.

Holy lens flair Batman!

Even though they were laughing for most of the session they were still able to “get serious” when asked.

Jen + Lewis: the engagements

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of having an engagement session with Jen and Lewis. We had planned a downtown session and boy did we get lucky with the weather. The forecast was calling for rain most of the day, but right around 6pm everything dried up and we had fantastic weather to wander around town. I’m looking forward to shooting Jen’s bridals in a few weeks and then their 5/17 wedding out at the Lakeway Resort and Spa. Enjoy the sneak peek.

Kendra + Jeremy: the engagement

Yesterday Melanie and I had a blast of a session with Kendra and Jeremy. We wandered all around downtown Austin shooting at the Capitol, UT, Congress Ave, The Hideout, The Bob Bullock Museum, Austin Energy, a random swingset, and the Palmer Event Center. They were such great sports and we all had a great time. I have so many great shots that it was hard to choose which ones to post to the blog. I may sneak a few more into future posts, but for now enjoy these. We’re so looking forward to their wedding next month.

Yuani and Frank

What can I say about Yuani and Frank? They are 2 fantastic people who I’ve come to know over the past year and a half. Today we visited them to shoot some photos that they are going to use for Christmas cards. I think these came out great and wanted to put a few sneak peeks up on the blog. Let me know what you think.

The Robson Family

Today Melanie and I visited with the Robson family and had a fun time taking photos for their Christmas cards. Gianna was being a little stinker, but we waited her out and got some cute photos of her with Mommy and Daddy. We tried getting a family portrait, but she would have none of that so we just worked with what she gave us. It’s always fun seeing how the little ones are growing… we’ve photographed her ever since she was 3 months old… what a cutie. Enjoy the photos.

The Obuchowski Family

Today Melanie and I had the pleasure of visiting with the Obuchowski’s and photographing their wonderful family. I’ve known both Ed and Katy for about 7 years now and it’s fun seeing their family grow. Sam and Eddie are fun little kiddos and each has a very distinct personality. We shot inside for about 45 minutes and both of them were much happier once we headed outside . And who could blame them? It was a beautiful day here in Austin. Enjoy the sneak peek guys.

The Stevens Family

This morning Melanie and I visited with the Stevens family… Emily, Scott, and Nicholas. We had a blast, though Nicholas didn’t agree with us for portions of the shoot. We worked through the unhappiness and ended up with some great photos. Somewhere along the way their dog, Gus, got ticked off at me invading his space and bit me in the face. No worries though… he didn’t break the skin. The funniest thing was right after that he rolled over on his back and wanted a belly rub… and me being the dog guy that I am couldn’t resist :) . Enjoy the preview guys.

The Gardner Family

Today Melanie and I had the pleasure of hanging out with Mindy, Steve, and little Benjamin while shooting some family portraits for them. We decided to take the shoot outdoors since it was such a b-e-a-utiful day in Austin. We started at St. Luke’s on the Lake (a church that is on RR 620 near Steiner Ranch) to get some shots with Lake Travis in the background. After that we headed into Steiner Ranch to a private park down on Lake Austin. We had a great time and captured some awesome family moments (Benjamin wasn’t too happy at the beginning of the session, but by the end he was one happy boy when we set him down with his dump truck). Make sure you follow the jump to see a photo of Benjamin from just a year ago. Kids grow so fast!

Candice!

I have been dying to blog these photos.  Meet the beautiful Candice.  Laura and I did her bridal session back on 7/26 down at the Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin, but I didn’t want to post any of the photos for fear of her fiance seeing them.  Well we shot Candice and Gunnar’s wedding yesterday so now I can post these.  Yay!  A sneak peek of the wedding photos will be posted later today.  For now enjoy the bridal photos.

Meet Ethan!

Today we had the pleasure of visiting with one of our favorite couples, Jen and Jeff, and photographing their sweet little son, Ethan. They were real troopers and 3 month old Ethan put up with the flash for as long as he could before he told his Mom that it was about time for some food. We had a good time and made some great photos. Here are a few from this morning’s session.

PS. Can you tell I LOVE little baby fingers and toes? :-)
