Hey there and welcome to the Blueye Photography blog. My name is Troy and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer located in Austin Texas. I love making photos that are real... real moments, real smiles, real love. I'm not sure that I can put my photography style into a single category, but you can be sure that I'm looking for the best light and the most creative angles I can.
In my blog you'll find everything from sneak peeks of client sessions to personal information. My life is (almost) an open book and I like to share as much as I can. Most entries will include photos... this is a photographers blog after all. I also love feedback about my photography/posts/website/life so please comment as much as you like. I read them all and try to respond to each and every one.

It has been ages since I last posted (yeah, I’m a big slacker). Since I’m not taking bookings right now I’ve been spending a good amount of time photographing my son… he’s kind of irresistible

Saw this little video over on Becker’s Blog and thought I’d pass it along. It’s astounding how many people joined the social networking blitz in such a short amount of time. I can’t tell you the number of times I heard news first through my Facebook and Twitter connections (Mike Vick signing with the Eagles was the latest news story to hit my radar via a social network).
Take a few minutes to watch this video… some of the statistics are eye opening.
Just wanted to post a quick note (from the airport…isn’t technology great?) to let y’all know that the office will be closed for about a week. I will be checking email occasionally and will try to respond, but I will definitely get back to you after June 28th.
I’ve been following the I Heart Faces Twitter feed for a while now and had to enter this photo when I saw the theme was “reflection” (not to mention that photographer extraordinaire Nate Kaiser from The Image Is Found is judging). Today Bella decided the best way to celebrate Jesus on this Easter Sunday was to sit outside and soak up God’s sunshine.
It’s been a while since I’ve just gone out and shot for the heck of it and while I can’t say that this trip was really just for the heck of it (I was scouting for an upcoming wedding) it really gave me an opportunity just to shoot for me and have a little fun. Has it really been 15 days since my last blog post? Shame on me 
Things have been busy around here (filling print orders, cleaning around the house, scheduling future sessions, and working on albums) and I’m in a bit of a lull when it comes to shooting lately so I haven’t had that much to blog about… buuuuuuuuut I’ve got a topic that I would love some feedback about so hopefully you, oh-so-fabulous-blog-reader, will leave me a comment with your opinion.
The lease on my VW Jetta is up in a few months and I need to start looking for a new car. I’ve informally narrowed the field down to 4 contenders. My criteria:

Nearly every day I find new (to me) photographers who are truly gifted. This world is full of amazing talent. Zack Arias was asked to guest blog on Scott Kelby’s blog and instead of writing a post he created a video using his Flip Mino HD. This video is quite inspiring and I wanted to share it here.
I received my new Canon 5D mk II this afternoon and I think I’m in love

I’ve only shot a few frames with the 5D (it was a busy day), but the ISO performance is phenomenal. The two photos below were shot at ISO 1600 and are pretty much straight out of the camera (I adjusted the white balance in Lightroom). Wow!
And the most impressive thing about this new camera? HD video! Check out this quick little movie I shot with the 85 f/1.2 @ ISO 1600. I converted the video to black and white, added transitions, and added the music in Apple’s iMovie.
