My Passion & My Work

Hey there and welcome to the Blueye Photography blog. My name is Troy and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer located in Austin Texas. I love making photos that are real... real moments, real smiles, real love. I'm not sure that I can put my photography style into a single category, but you can be sure that I'm looking for the best light and the most creative angles I can.

In my blog you'll find everything from sneak peeks of client sessions to personal information. My life is (almost) an open book and I like to share as much as I can. Most entries will include photos... this is a photographers blog after all. I also love feedback about my photography/posts/website/life so please comment as much as you like. I read them all and try to respond to each and every one.

After you've read through some posts and gotten to know a bit about me feel free to check out my portfolio site using the portfolio link above. The blog is updated more frequently than my site, but you won't want to miss checking out my portfolio either.

Thanks for stopping by.

Vegas, baby!

I’m going to make this a short entry because it’s late and I’m tired. We made it to Vegas safely yesterday and the first day of the workshop went well. I picked up a bunch of good information and we did a fun shooting exercise with a Polaroid camera and cardboard cut-out of Elvis. We had a lot of fun with that exercise. We’ll find out which team won tomorrow.Tonight Melanie and I went to dinner at the Top of the World restaurant at the top of the Stratosphere tonight and it was truly an experience. Great food and great view. Here are some photos from tonight. Enjoy.

The view from the top looking down over the Strip.

This is one of the 3 crazy rides they have at the top of the Stratosphere. This one hung you out over the edge and spun you for about a minute. C-R-A-Z-Y!!

Melanie with the Strip in the background.

One of the other rides. This one shot you up another 100 feet or so above the observation deck. Basically the highest point in all of Las Vegas.

From below… the star looking thing is the spinning ride.

Miscellaneous Monday #10 (bridal edition)

I will be leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow morning and won’t be back in Austin until late Wednesday night 3/19. I will be checking email periodically so if you need to get in touch with me while I’m away email is the best way to do it.
————————-
I’m going to be very short with my post here and get right to the images because I need to go finish packing. Here are Kendra’s bridals… finally (I would love to post these right after we shoot them, but that could spoil the surprise if we have a curious groom… so we wait until after the wedding to post them). Enjoy!

Kendra + Jeremy: the wedding

Yesterday Laura and I had the privilege of shooting Kendra and Jeremy’s wedding at the always awesome Lakeway Resort and Spa. It was a b-e-a-utiful day and a beautiful wedding. These two are so in love. It was definitely not hard for us to capture the emotions of the day. For the reception Kendra put together a handful of slideshows to share with her guests that, at times, had everyone cracking up and shedding a tear. It was a great day and we’re honored we could be there to photograph it. Enjoy the preview and have a great time in Hawai’i guys!

What better way to get closer to the mirror than to sit in the sink

Bad Blogger

Yup… I missed another Monday (and Tuesday, but shhhh… don’t tell anybody). Life’s been busy lately. Not so much on the photo front, but just in general. My photography escapades will be picking up here shortly. I have Kendra and Jeremy’s wedding this Saturday and next Tuesday I’ll be flying to fabulous Las Vegas for The Anti Workshop and WPPI. I’m really looking forward to the trip and I’m planning on blogging every day I’m in Vegas (we’ll see how well that goes).

For today’s entry I decided to post a couple of pictures of my favorite model, Bella, taken with my shiny new Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. It’s a light, compact prime lens that produces some yummy blurred backgrounds (photo junkies call it bokeh). This lens is going to be a lot of fun in Vegas.

Here’s B-girl getting her chin scratched. Can you tell she likes that?

Also, I have an exciting (for me at least) sneak preview of something I’ve been working on. It’s probably a few more weeks away, but I’ve made much progress on it in the past 2 weeks and am eager to share.

Can you guess what’s coming?

T.
