My Passion & My Work

Hey there and welcome to the Blueye Photography blog. My name is Troy and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer located in Austin Texas. I love making photos that are real... real moments, real smiles, real love. I'm not sure that I can put my photography style into a single category, but you can be sure that I'm looking for the best light and the most creative angles I can.

In my blog you'll find everything from sneak peeks of client sessions to personal information. My life is (almost) an open book and I like to share as much as I can. Most entries will include photos... this is a photographers blog after all. I also love feedback about my photography/posts/website/life so please comment as much as you like. I read them all and try to respond to each and every one.

After you've read through some posts and gotten to know a bit about me feel free to check out my portfolio site using the portfolio link above. The blog is updated more frequently than my site, but you won't want to miss checking out my portfolio either.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Anti Workshop

So if you didn’t know (by reading my previous posts) I’m in Las Vegas attending The Anti Workshop. It’s a 4 day photography training class hosted by the Boutwells of Boutwell Studio and the Coopers of Alt-F. For the past 2 days they’ve been sharing information about how they run their businesses and giving us tips and training on how to push the envelope of our own wedding photography. Each day we’ve had a shooting exercise and they’ve been a blast. Yesterday we had a Polaroid camera and a cardboard cut-out of Elvis and we had to shoot a 10 frame themed series. My team chose to document Elvis’ fall from Grace(land). Here’s a shot of the few rejects we had:

Today we were given the task of completing a 24 frame series with a live bride and groom. My team (me, Josh Solar from Kansas City, and Denise Hoogland from Las Vegas) were paired up with Phil and Ayumi (hopefully I spelled that right). These two were great and they did everything we asked them to do. We all had a bunch of great photos to submit for the project and I wanted to share a bunch of them with y’all. Phil/Ayumi, if you are reading this thank you for donating your time to work with us and please email me so I can get you copies of the photos.

This shot won me a drink ticket :-)

March 14, 2008 - 9:10 am Jay Tsai - Great pics Troy! Now I understand the comment from John in class why Phil's profile is so recognizable! Love the last image that shows motion.

March 22, 2008 - 1:45 pm Troy - Jay-- Thanks for the comment and it was great meeting you and Peggy. That last image was a fluke, but we ended up really liking the feel of it. Hi Anna-- It was great meeting you at the workshop. I'm going to need a translation for that last comment. Is that French? ;-)

March 23, 2008 - 7:55 pm Anna - Hi Troy, it is not a comment. I put a link to your blog on my polish blog and that's a piece of my post. It was great to meet you and Melanie. Great posts and pictures.

March 23, 2008 - 8:24 pm Troy - Aahhh... makes more sense now. Thanks for stopping by and clarifying that :-)
