My Passion & My Work

Hey there and welcome to the Blueye Photography blog. My name is Troy and I'm a wedding and portrait photographer located in Austin Texas. I love making photos that are real... real moments, real smiles, real love. I'm not sure that I can put my photography style into a single category, but you can be sure that I'm looking for the best light and the most creative angles I can.

In my blog you'll find everything from sneak peeks of client sessions to personal information. My life is (almost) an open book and I like to share as much as I can. Most entries will include photos... this is a photographers blog after all. I also love feedback about my photography/posts/website/life so please comment as much as you like. I read them all and try to respond to each and every one.

After you've read through some posts and gotten to know a bit about me feel free to check out my portfolio site using the portfolio link above. The blog is updated more frequently than my site, but you won't want to miss checking out my portfolio either.

Thanks for stopping by.

The Gardner Family

Today Melanie and I had the pleasure of hanging out with Mindy, Steve, and little Benjamin while shooting some family portraits for them. We decided to take the shoot outdoors since it was such a b-e-a-utiful day in Austin. We started at St. Luke’s on the Lake (a church that is on RR 620 near Steiner Ranch) to get some shots with Lake Travis in the background. After that we headed into Steiner Ranch to a private park down on Lake Austin. We had a great time and captured some awesome family moments (Benjamin wasn’t too happy at the beginning of the session, but by the end he was one happy boy when we set him down with his dump truck). Make sure you follow the jump to see a photo of Benjamin from just a year ago. Kids grow so fast!

(more photos after the jump)

Liz and Scott

This past weekend we had the pleasure of shooting Liz and Scott’s wedding at the Bahia Mar Resort in South Padre Island. The weather was beautiful, if a little hot, and even a few miscues at the ceremony and reception couldn’t dampen everyone’s spirits. Their ceremony was held on the beach at 9:30am followed by a quick formal photo session and then indoors for the reception. The events ended around 2pm, but we managed to grab the happy couple for about an hour around sunset for some stunning photos. Congratulations guys!

On a bad day it’s good to have the best dog ever!

Being a homeowner is not a fun thing at times. Today was one of those times. We had a major water leak right at the junction of the main water line coming into the house and our sprinkler system. Unfortunately we didn’t find the source of the leak until over 200,000 gallons of water were used :(. I managed to get a plumber out to the house quickly today to fix it and while I was sitting on the ground cleaning up the muddy hole that the plumbers created my dog Bella hunkered down beside me and kept me company. Since I had my camera out to document the watery event I decided to take a few photos of B-girl. She’s an awesome dog and anyone who is thinking about getting a golden retriever should stop thinking and just get one. They are great dogs! Just look at that smile :)

Candice and Gunnar get hitched

Yesterday Laura and I had the pleasure of shooting Candice and Gunnar’s wedding at Old Glory Ranch in Wimberley, TX. It was a beautiful day and OGR is a wonderful place to have a wedding. They had a very small wedding party (which is a welcomed change from the larger weddings we’ve shot). Congratulations guys and enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii!

I have been dying to blog these photos.  Meet the beautiful Candice.  Laura and I did her bridal session back on 7/26 down at the Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin, but I didn’t want to post any of the photos for fear of her fiance seeing them.  Well we shot Candice and Gunnar’s wedding yesterday so now I can post these.  Yay!  A sneak peek of the wedding photos will be posted later today.  For now enjoy the bridal photos.
